Nick Tee vs Vuori Strato Tech Tee: The $45 Alternative
Performance
One is built to sweat in. One is built to live in.
If you want what the Vuori Strato Tech Tee does without wearing a fully synthetic shirt all day, buy the PILLAR Nick Tee at $45. It is a slim fit cotton blend tee with a curved hem, breathable and moisture wicking. Keep the Strato at $58 if most of your wear is actual training, because a 96% polyester knit dries faster than any cotton blend will.
PILLAR makes the Nick, the Joey and the Tim, so one brand here is ours. Every price and spec below was read off each brand's own product page on October 30, 2026. Nothing is a test result and nothing is a ranking.
The Verdict
For the hours that are not a workout, the PILLAR Nick Tee at $45: slim fit, curved hem, 60% cotton with 35% rayon and 5% spandex, breathable and moisture wicking, and it still reads as a shirt at dinner. Want more stretch and a hem you can tuck? The PILLAR Joey Tee is the same $45.
Nick Tee in Forest Green. The four sizes listed are in stock today at $45.
What is the Vuori Strato Tech Tee made of, and what is the Nick Tee made of?
The Strato is 96% polyester and 4% elastane. The PILLAR Nick Tee is 60% cotton, 35% rayon and 5% spandex. One is a performance knit with no natural fibre in it, the other is cotton led with the stretch added.
| PILLAR Nick Tee | Vuori Strato Tech Tee | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $45 | $58 |
| Fabric | 60% cotton, 35% rayon, 5% spandex | 96% polyester, 4% elastane |
| Fit | Slim | Modern athletic |
| Hem | Curved | Straight, 29 inch body length |
| Dry time | Fast | Fastest |
| Sizes | Small through 3XL | XXS through 3XL |
| Returns | 30 days, unworn | Free returns on eligible items |
Those two compositions are the whole argument. Rayon gives a cotton blend its drape, spandex lets it come back to shape, and polyester trades that hand for speed. Here is what each fibre is doing.
Does a tech tee feel different once you are not working out?
Yes, and the difference shows up when you stop moving. A synthetic knit is doing its best work while you sweat. A cotton blend is doing its best work for the other twenty three hours.
What the Tag Says, What You Notice
"Moisture wicking"
Sweat moves to the surface and evaporates there instead of sitting against you. A cotton blend does this. A full synthetic does it faster.
"Quick drying"
How soon it is wearable again after you soak it. Polyester wins outright, which is why our training tee is 88% polyester.
"96% polyester"
A knit with no natural fibre in it. Lighter, faster, holds a crease less. It also reads as athletic wear rather than as a shirt, which matters more at dinner than in the gym.
So who should buy the Strato, and who should buy the Nick?
Buy on where the shirt spends its day. Training most days points at the Strato. Everything else points at the Nick.

Frequently asked questions
What is a good alternative to the Vuori Strato Tech Tee?
The PILLAR Nick Tee at $45, which is $13 less. Both are slim cut tees that stretch and wick, but the Strato is 96% polyester and 4% elastane while the Nick is 60% cotton, 35% rayon and 5% spandex. If the shirt spends most of its day outside the gym, the cotton led blend is the one you want.
Is the Vuori Strato Tech Tee worth $58?
For training, it earns the price. A fully synthetic knit dries faster than any cotton blend, and XXS to 3XL is a wider range than most brands cut. For a shirt you wear to work and to dinner, you are paying for a dry time you will not use.
Are cotton blend t-shirts moisture wicking?
Yes, when they are built for it. The PILLAR Nick Tee and Joey Tee are 60% cotton, 35% rayon and 5% spandex, and both are breathable and moisture wicking. A full synthetic still dries faster after a hard session, which is why our Tim Tee at $46 is 88% polyester.
What should I wear if I go from the gym straight to dinner?
Change the shirt and keep everything else. A training tee for the session and a cotton blend tee for the table, which is why the Nick Tee and the Tim Tee add to $91. If you want one shirt for both, take the PILLAR Joey Tee at $45: the straight hem tucks and the four way stretch handles the session.
